Today's PD will focus on developing an understanding of how technology and gamification techniques can be used to greatly increase student engagement.
CRB Digital is the culmination of a pet project that I have been developing for years and have perfected through use in the classroom.
For my individual use, this site served as a hub for my classes. I would have students go to the site at the start of class so they could see their activity for the day. Rather than just providing them with a task, I would include a small fictional story that acted as a choose your own adventure sort of thing so that student's had some agency over what tasks they completed and the order in which they did so.
Now, the site can grow to become so much more. I am working towards creating a "digital library" that will house videos, digital copies of books/magazines/comics, and plenty of other educational tools all in one place.
With some feedback from you, I will grow the site over the next month with an eye towards a Christmas release for the students. They will be able to access the site everywhere, as it is optimized for mobile as well.
